IAN Millward has been told he can replace Martin Gleeson, who was sold to Warrington last Friday.

Millward said: "The chairman has said I can buy a centre, but up to now I have not been in the market so I have had no players in mind.

"Up to a week ago I was not bothered because I had two of the best centres in the world.

"It is like having your car stolen and all of a sudden having to go out and buy a new one. But Martin has gone and we have to move on.

"It is hard to find someone of sufficient quality - Martin is a world class player.

"Unfortunately other clubs have been able to do their ground work on buying top class centres and they have been at the market a lot longer than us in that regard.

"I can see both sides of the story, but from my point of view I am disappointed even though I understand some of the reasons.

"I was hoping he would be around for another seven years at least.

"Life has to go on, and if I just worry about Martin we are going to lose focus and we can't afford to do that after our last two performances.

"The board have taken this decision because they think it is right for the long term future of the club."

Millward ruled out a bid for Bradford's out of contract Kiwi centre Shontayne Hape.
