TWO Derby runners and a British horse that almost won the Arlington Million race in Chicago last year head the entries for the feature race of Haydock Park's third and final three-day meeting of the summer starting today (Thursday, August 5).

Kaieteur narrowly missed out on a $600,000 prize when second in one of North America's most famous races last August. This year the five-year-old doesn't have to travel so far from his Berkshire stable with sights set on the Group 3 Petros Rose of Lancaster Stakes over an extended one-and-a-quarter miles at Haydock on Saturday.

Former Derby runners Chancellor and Franklins Gardens are among the opposition in the highest-class contest on a day when there is almost £200,000 prize money up for grabs. This year's leading trainer Saeed bin Suroor has entered two horses, while the top northern stable of Mark Johnston is also doubly represented.

The most valuable race of the afternoon is the Totesport Stakes, run over the same distance as the Group event.

Saturday's racing is the culmination of the meeting that also includes the final Lambrini Ladies' Night of 2004 on Friday evening.

First race on Thursday is due off at 2.10pm, while starting times on Friday and Saturday are 6.10pm and 1.55pm respectively.

Accompanied children under 16 enter free. Senior citizens and students, with appropriate identification, enter Tattersalls and the Newton Enclosure at half price. More details about racing at Haydock are available on the website www.haydock-park.co.uk
