A NEW iHub room bursting with iMac computers, a Nintendo Wii and interactive whiteboard has been opened in St Helens.

Catering for young people, aged between 13 and 19, the iHub room is in St Helens town centre’s Central Library in Victoria Square.

St Helens Council, in partnership with the local Youth Parliament, secured £25,000 of Youth Capital funding to create the unique area within the library for young people.

It has 15 iMac computers, a Nintendo Wii games console and an interactive whiteboard, plus a projector and screen and comfy seating areas.

The iHub Room can be used for formal and informal learning and library staff have been trained to assist young people.

The iMacs can allow young people to use music, photos, graphic design to enhance the work they are doing at school or college.


Opening times are: Monday (9.30am - 8pm) Tuesday (9.30am - 5pm) Wednesday (9.30am - 8pm) Thursday (9.30am - 5pm) Friday (9.30am - 5pm) Saturday (9.30am - 4pm).
