YOUNG skateboarder Matty Carlisle has got the world at his feet.

The wannabe pro skater, aged just 11, was voted ‘best Under 11’ at the UK Skateboarding mini-ramp championships in Skegness after impressing judges with his sleek skating skills.

He has already bagged the support of some of the world’s major skating companies and even has his own skateboard sponsor.

More than 1,000 people have been logging on to Matthew’s YouTube page to view his videos, in which he can be seen showing off his artistry on the ramps.

His hobby has seen him venture all over the North West to demonstrate his talent.

Despite his busy sporting schedule, the energetic youngster still found time to talk to the St Helens Star.

Matty, who has been skateboarding since he was eight, told us: “I just love the attention I get when I go and skate, I enjoy skateboarding and I want to be a professional.”

And it’s not only skateboarding that the sporty daredevil has been getting stuck into as he has also tasted success in several other sports.

The St Helens Star recently reported that Matty had finished second in a local Under 11s primary school cross-country race in Sherdley Park and he has also graced the cricket field for St Helens CC U9, U10 and U11s.

The Manchester United fan has played football for Rainhill United, U9, U10 and U11s and won player of the year for the U10s Villa team ... and he’s even finding the time to do a bit of snowboarding too.

The talented schoolboy’s dad, Chris, can’t hide his delight at the success Matty has had, emphasising that his son still finds time to complete his homework, he said: “We recognise that Matty has talent and we’re fully supportive of him in achieving his goals.”

‘Distance Skateboards’ of Manchester recently agreed to give Matty (a pupil at St Ann’s Primary in Rainhill who is due to start Rainhill High School in September) his first skateboard ‘deck sponsorship’ and he is constantly being advised as to how to succeed in the skating industry by California based skating tycoon Monster Energy.

The young sportsman, who skates for 12 hours every week, has expressed a desire to be a professional skateboarder and has recently decided to suspend some of his other sporting activities in order to follow his dream.

Matthew’s next competition will be at the HUB festival in Liverpool in May. His blog can be followed at http://matthewcarlisle.blogspot.com
