DETECTIVES have charged two men with modern day slavery and drug supply offences as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers arrested two men in the Newton-le-Willows area on suspicion of drug supply on Friday, April 5.

Graham McEvoy, 19, from Market Street, Newton-le-Willows has now been charged with the following offences: concerned in the supply of crack cocaine; concerned in the supply of heroin; and five counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

Lewis Davies, 19, from Clarence Street, Newton-le-Willows has now been charged with the following offences: Concerned in the supply of crack cocaine; concerned in the supply of heroin; and five counts of arranging or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court this morning, Monday, April 9.

Arrests were made by the specialist County Lines unit, as part of Project Medusa.

Detective Sergeant Pete Sloan said: "This investigation continues and we will be supporting and safeguarding those who we believe have been exploited.

"We work day in, day out to investigate suspected drug supply and those young and otherwise vulnerable people who can fall victim to their activities. Come forward directly or anonymously and we will keep taking action."
