After working in various salons across St Helens, Helen has experienced the various trends in hairdressing and social media, and joined the Secret Halo salon in 2019 before it moved into St Helens town centre last year.

Helen is also a hairdressing teacher at St Helens College where she passes on her knowledge and skills, and said that the best thing about her job is bringing out the confidence in her clients and pupils.

The 32-year-old, who is mum to two boys and also cares for three more with her partner, was diagnosed with ADHD in recent years and said that hairdressing provides a structure and creative outlet that she needs, adding that she believes her condition makes her a better hairstylist.

Helen said: "I always used to love playing with my mum's hair as a kid and I think that's where my passion for hairdressing has come from.

"I love the end process especially because you can get a couple of people coming in who are low on confidence or feeling down about themselves, but they can leave really happy after a complete transformation.

"I'm feeling nervous about the awards but really happy that I've been nominated and shortlisted as I will be up against people all over the North West."
