HUNDREDS of Easter eggs collected by Rainford High community for local causes in St Helens.

Every year, Rainford High launches a school-wide campaign to gather Easter eggs for those in need.

In a bid to create some healthy competition, the school tasked its house system with collecting as many Easter eggs as possible, in return for coveted house points and the opportunity of winning a prize. This year’s house winner was ‘Endeavor’.

Through their united efforts, the school has been able to donate Easter eggs to St Helens Foodbank, local community groups and families of local schools that would not otherwise have received any chocolate eggs.

Students were on hand to assist the foodbank with their collection of eggs and staff personally delivered the donations to the worthwhile causes, enabling them to be distributed to those in need, within the local area, before Easter Sunday.

Alexandra Marsh, director of business and finance at Rainford High, has led the initiative for the last seven years. She said: “I am so proud of the school community coming together to make this year’s Easter egg charity appeal a success. We hope this goes towards making a difference this Easter.”

Mr Ian Young, principal of Rainford High, added: “A huge thank you to our students, their families and our staff for supporting this year’s initiative.

"Witnessing our young people embodying the school ethos of 'Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps, Everyone Succeeds' and actively striving to create a positive impact in the community is truly inspiring.”
