FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a blaze broke out at a restaurant on Sunday night.

Crews descended on to Warrington Road, in Rainhill, at around 10.20pm on February 25, to the scene of the fire at the Ajmeer Tandoori premises.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and spent more than two hours at the scene.

Cadent also attended to isolate gas to the entire property.

A Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "MFRS attended an incident at Warrington Road, Rainhill, on February 25.

"Crews were alerted at 10.20pm and two fire engines were on scene at 10.26pm.

"On arrival, crews found a two-storey terraced property with a ground floor restaurant involved in fire.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet."

She added: "Once the fire was extinguished, the gas to the ground floor property was isolated and crews remained on scene to dampen down hot spots.

"Cadent arrived on scene and isolated gas to the entire property, and Scottish Power attended the scene to assess property electrics.

"Fire crews handed the scene over to Scottish Power and left at 12.42am."
