A CHARITY that owns a school for young people with special educational needs is considering a potential sale of the site.

Nugent, a leading charity based in the Northwest focused on providing social care provision that supports vulnerable children, young people, and adults, has announced its intention to "explore strategic alternatives" for Nugent House School, in Billinge.

The charity says this is aimed at securing the school's sustainable future and includes the potential sale of the Carr Mill Road facility as an operating educational service.

Nugent House School has long been a vital service within the area, offering specialised education and comprehensive care to young people with special educational needs.

However, Nugent says that "amidst an evolving landscape and operational challenges", it recognises the need to "ensure the school's long-term viability and sustainability".

Nugent is undertaking a comprehensive evaluation of options to uphold its legacy and mission as a charity, and the school itself.

The charity adds that while this exploration process is underway, Nugent "remains dedicated to maintaining the high standard of education and care for its pupils, colleagues, and stakeholders".

Nugent added it is committed to keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged, prioritising the well-being and educational needs of the students above all else.
