THE Chief Executive of Shakespeare North Playhouse has been named as one of The Stage 100’s Most Influential People of 2024.

This recognition is a testament to Melanie Lewis’ exceptional contributions to shaping and advancing the landscape of regional theatre.

The Stage’s 100 is an annual list that identifies and celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the performing arts industry.

Under Melanie’s guidance, Shakespeare North Playhouse has flourished as a hub for creativity, innovation, and community engagement. Her strategic vision has not only elevated the artistic excellence of the theatre but has also fostered a vibrant and inclusive cultural space that resonates with audiences far and wide.

Awarded Theatre Building of The Year at the 2023 The Stage Awards, Shakespeare North Playhouse has quickly become a cornerstone of the community since opening its doors in 2022. In the past 17 months, the theatre has hosted over 150 events including productions, workshops, and tours and welcomed over 160k visitors to the building.

Shakespeare North Playhouse is playing a key role in the regeneration of Knowsley; impacting the people and communities by providing job opportunities, skills development, raising aspirations and increasing health and well-being.
