RESIDENTS have been issued letters ahead of Reminisce festival next month letting them know of "contingencies" put in place.

Reminisce has become a regular event on St Helens calendar and keeps getting bigger each year, with the event – taking place on Saturday, September 9 at Sherdley Park – already selling out its 20,000 capacity with its line-up of old skool dance and 90s pop.

Residents in Sutton have been issued with a letter from the organisers making them aware that the building of the festival site will start on Tuesday, August 29, with deconstruction set to be completed post event by September 15.

The letter states: “We appreciate that local residents have concerns about the event and we have worked with the council, police and responsible authorities to ensure that all aspects of health and public safety have been addressed, as well as taking measures to limit disruption to residents and normal park-goers as much as possible.

“The extra contingencies put in place in 2022 to alleviate some of the issues that had arisen in 2021 have been maintained and in some cases improved.

“These include expanded car parking, additional security staffing outside the event compound and surrounding residential roads, increased waste management/litter picking resources and expanding the entrance operation to ensure attendees are admitted to the event space at an increased pace.”

The area containing the festival will be completely closed off using 12ft ‘steel shield’ security barriers.

Works currently underway at the Bull and Dog roundabout CYCLOPS junction works are scheduled to be completed on Monday, September 4, the same week as the event, confirmed St Helens Council.
