CONCERT-GOERS have hailed a brilliant night after legendary band The Who reeled off the hits in St Helens on Friday.
The band have been headlining festivals around the world for decades and it was a special night for local Who fans as the legendary band took to the stage at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
The crowds may have been smaller than when Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott performed at the same venue last year – but those who were there were full of praise for the show.
Commenting on the Star’s Facebook page about the night, John Hayden wrote: “Absolutely fantastic from a couple of pensioners. Daltrey’s voice sounded the same as 40- 50 years ago.”
Sue Johnson added: “Wow, is all I can say. Started with Standing Man, who are a brilliant up [and] coming band and then we had UB40 with the sensational Ali Campbell and then The Who wow, wow, wow.
“They might be getting on a bit but what a brilliant show they put on for us worth every penny spent.”
Ang Metcalfe added: “Such a fantastic night, the orchestra was amazing ❤️ Roger's voice is still as good as ever ❤️ brilliant show! Xx”
Paul Harrison was also full of praise, writing: “Great night. All the bands were top class, weather didn’t dampen the atmosphere. Well done St Helens more of the same please.”
James Hall said it was “an absolutely fantastic evening” describing The Who as “my favourite band of all time”.
Alison Burrows called for more concerts at the stadium while Lynne Webster said: “It may have been raining but it dampen our spirits for the love of live music.”
