A MOTORIST was arrested for road traffic offences yesterday after another driver was allegedly threatened with a "meat cleaver". 

On Tuesday, April 4, the Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted that officers had pulled over a Peugeot van on Rainford Road, close to Windle Island, following reports of a "road rage incident" earlier that day.

Officers alleged a driver "brandished a meat cleaver" during the incident.

The motorist was pulled over and arrested in connection with this alleged offence.

His van was also seized by police.

A driver involved in an alleged road rage incident may be prosecuted for of a motoring offence such as careless driving, driving without reasonable consideration for other road users or dangerous driving.
