A RUGBY team is organising a tribute night to raise money for a children’s hospice.

Members of Thatto Heath Crusaders U12s have helped set up a Take That tribute show for this week in aid of Claire House, a children’s hospice based in Merseyside.

The tribute show is one of many charity events the rugby team has organised, with the team's recent Bingo Night also raising donations for the hospice.

The team now hopes to raise vital funds for the children’s hospice to help support local families with terminally ill children.

Lisa Kenny, team manager, said: "It’s something the kids love to do; last year, they raised money to get Easter eggs for charity, and they’ve been helping by handing out flyers and going around St Helens town centre.

"We’ve also recently done a Bingo Night in aid of Claire House, so we were going to put all the money we raise together.

"The kids have been fully involved and have used their Saturday mornings to help out."

The Take That tribute show will take place this Friday, March 10, at Thatto Heath Labour Club.

Doors open at 7:30pm with an 8:15pm start.

Tickets for the tribute show are £12.

Claire House

Claire House Children’s Hospice opened in December 1998 in memory of Claire Louise Cain, who passed away just before her tenth birthday after a tumour was found behind her nose and eye.

A decade after Claire’s diagnosis, the hospice opened as a result of her family and other families' determination to ensure others are able to be with their loved ones during their final hours.
