A POPULAR television show that dives into the ancestry of celebrities will feature Johnny Vegas on the show next week.

Returning for a fourth series, ITV's DNA Journey is back on people's screens tonight (Tuesday, March 7), starring Downtown Abbey star Hugh Bonneville and scouse comedian John Bishop.

The show will then look into the family history of St Helens' comedian and actor Johnny Vegas, well known for roles on Benidorm and Still Open All Hours, on Tuesday, March 14.

Thatto Heath comic Johnny, whose real name is Michael Pennington, will be joined in his ancestry journey with fellow comedian and co-host of Channel 4's The Last Leg, Alex Brooker.

Celebrities such as Ant & Dec, Freddie Flintoff, Jamie Redknapp, and Amanda Holden, have taken part in previous episodes of the show, with cutting edge DNA technology and genealogy uncovering the truth behind their bloodlines.

With some astonishing stories revealed in the historical deep dive, celebrities have often come face to face with living relatives they never before knew existed.

Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar, Men Behaving Badly actor Neil Morrissey, and Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse will feature on later episodes of the ITV show.

In an interview on BBC Radio 6 last month, Johnny Vegas spoke about his recent diganosis with ADHD and his "slow journey" back to becoming Michael Pennington.

The St Helens native also spoke about Season Two of the 'Carry On Glamping series that will return later this year, and an art exhibition he is planning in London.
