TWO men were arrested after police followed a suspected stolen car in the early hours of this morning.

On Saturday, November 5, it was reported that a vehicle had been taken from a property on Brook Street, Lowton.

At around 4.30am on Monday, November 7, an officer saw a car matching the description of the stolen vehicle being driven on the M62 near junction 6.

Vehicle followed by police

With the support of the National Police Air Service, the vehicle was followed on to Waterland Lane, Parr, where it was abandoned.

Two men were located and arrested nearby on Fleet Lane.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary of a dwelling with intent to steal, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst disqualified, and theft of a motor vehicle.

A 29-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of burglary of a dwelling with intent to steal and going equipped for burglary.

Both men remain in custody.

Officers are now appealing for any further information on the burglary to assist the ongoing investigation.

Inspector Beth Blake said: “Burglaries can have a profound impact on victims and the local community and the arrests we have made show that where we receive reports of burglary from the communities affected, we will act.

“I would continue to urge anyone who has information in connection to this burglary to please get in touch.
