A CAR reportedly drove through a garden fence and into the corner of a house in Clock Face, terrifying its occupants.

On Tuesday, November 1, a "speeding" vehicle is reported to have crashed into a property on Acorn Close, Clock Face, at around 5.30pm.

The reported crash is said to have moved all the cupboards and smashed dishes in the kitchen, while also pushing the washing machine from under the worktops.

The incident was a huge shock to the elderly occupants of the property, who were making food in the kitchen at the time.

The driver, believed to be in a Volkswagen, is said to have quickly fled the scene "without checking to see if anyone inside was hurt".

Chris Moles, daughter of the couple who owns the house, said the incident has been reported to the police.

She said: "The driver was speeding and went straight through the fence and into the outside wall of the kitchen.

"The driver then sped off without even bothering to find out if anyone inside was hurt - a cowardly thing to do.

"The impact was so strong that the washing machine was pushed out from under the worktops, my dad couldn’t been killed!".

Chris also said that her parents, who are in their 80s, are very "shook up" following the incident.

They are concerned about the cost of the damage caused to their property, which may affect their home insurance policy moving forward.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that enquiries are ongoing after damage was caused to a fence and wall of a home in St Helens earlier this week.

"At around 5.25pm on Tuesday 1 November, a resident of a home in Acorn Close reported hearing a loud bang outside.

"Damage was found to a fence and front wall, believed to have been from a vehicle, which subsequently made off prior to police attendance."

Officers have carried out enquiries locally but we would continue to ask for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam, CCTV or ring footage to contact @MerPolCC with reference 22000805703.
