A COUPLE has been left shaken after burglars struck at their new home during the early hours and made off with two rare motorbikes.

Luke Beccellini, 47, and Karen Burke, 38, were left shocked after burglars sneaked their way into their house while they were upstairs asleep.

The break-in took place at around 4am on Wednesday, August 15 at the property on Peninsula Drive at Vulcan Park, Newton-le-Willows.

The thieves took a Ferrari red Cagiva Mito, registration plate MH07 HJJ as well as an Aprillia RS125, which had had the registration plate FJ07 DZC, from the couple’s garage, described by Luke as his “pride and joy”.

A number of other items were taken during the burglary including cash, credit cards, an iPad, a red leather handbag and two motorbike helmets – one black/grey in colour and one an AGV multi-coloured helmet

Partners Luke and Karen only moved into the home five weeks previously.

“We have just moved in only five weeks ago,” said Luke.

“There is a lock on the inside of the door that you turn. They have put their arm through the letterbox and came in the front door and opened the internal garage door.

“All of the keys were hanging up in the hall. They have taken an iPad and other things. We are frightened to go to sleep now.”

Luke added: “With the Cagiva, they are not in production anymore. There will not be another in Merseyside.

“The RS125 is a rare replica and has about 2,000 miles on the clock. It is very distinctive.

“They have been my pride and joy, they were taken with two helmets and sets of gloves.

“We heard the first noise but didn’t think anything of it.

“We are happy to offer a £500 reward for each. It doesn’t matter what condition.”

Police believe the Cagiva was seen on the Vulcan Park estate on Monday (August 20) around 7pm, going down Vulcan Park way (away from Aldi) and across the field at the back leading to the cemetery.

The bikes have also reportedly been seen speeding along Raleigh Road and through the walking entrance to Wargrave Road.

Detective Inspector Steve Ball said: “Both bikes are very distinctive and we have received reports of them being ridden around the local area.

“I would appeal to anyone who recognises the bikes or has any information about the burglary or where the bikes are being stored to contact us.”
