AROUND 50 people took to the streets on Saturday in a knife crime awareness walk in memory of Danny Fox.

Danny, 29, from Thatto Heath, died after suffering a single stab wound to the upper body on North John Street in September 2016.

Since his death his family have launched the #NoMoreKnives campaign in his memory, raise awareness, educate youths and try to highlight the impact it has on communities.

On Saturday, June 30, Danny’s family and friends walked from the Bird I’th Hand pub in Eccleston to town and back in an awareness walk.

Speaking to the Star ahead of the event, Danny’s auntie Dawn Jones, said: “We want to make the message very very clear, that knife crime in our area is unacceptable.

“Knife crime is on the up and it can get to an epidemic but we want to try and stop this and get some preventative measures in - which we’ve done in the town with the knife wands.

“But our biggest ambition is to bring in an education programme for young adults and children in schools and that will be a replication of the Ben Kinsella Trust in London.

“The walk is very important to open people’s eyes and see that we are still here and we are still doing things, it’s not all about fundraising, the awareness programme is very important too.

“We are going to show people in the town that we are supporting this community to make it safer.”
