A CRIMEWATCH appeal surrounding the murder of Adam Ellison has revealed an image of a potential witness and that the scrambler bike his killers rode away on may have been sold on.

The BBC One programme showed the heartbreaking moment where 29-year-old Adam was stabbed after a night out with his cousins to discuss how he would propose to girlfriend Rebecca Cunliffe.

Through a re-enactment – filmed in the exact spot where Adam received his fatal injury – actors showed the moment that two men on a green and white Kawasaki narrowly missed hitting Adam and his cousins as they left the The Deanes House Pub – and what steps led to his death.

Detective Chief Inspector John Middleton of Merseyside Police, who narrated the piece, said: “At that time there was two people on that motorcycle, the rider and a pillion passenger, the pillion passenger appears to be getting off the bike and looking into the window of the Old Mill Public house as if he was looking for someone and then they get back on the bike, which rode off.

“At that time Adam Ellison was just leaving the Deanes House, as he reached the junction of Market Place and Eccleston Street, the green and white Kawasaki comes close to hitting them and turning away at the last minute.

“They shouted at the motorcycle which had driven about 50 yards down the road.

“Adam went and spoke to the pillion passenger.

“The pillion passenger then swung a punch at Adam.

“Adam fell to the floor.

“At first his cousins thought he’d just been punched – but he’d been stabbed.”

After heartbreaking interviews with his sisters Nicola Moore and Joanne Evans alongside Adam’s grief-stricken mum Joyce Ellison, DCI John Middleton added: “I don’t think it’s targeted at all I think Adam was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“He was trying to defend himself and his friends and unfortunately he came across somebody who was carrying a knife.

“There were five motorcycles in the area of Prescot that night riding around the Old Mill Public House.

“There were three road motorbikes – two of which we know were stolen – and two off road motor cycles”

One of which was the green and white Kawasaki, Adam’s murders were riding on Friday, November 3.

He added: “They are quite common but this one has no stickers.

“We don’t know why the motorcycles were in the area that night for anti-social behaviour, but they could have been looking for someone.

“We have information to suggest that the bike was actually sold on after the offence, so someone may have actually purchased this motorcycle not knowing what it was involved in.

“We have intelligence to suggest that the offenders burned their clothing after the attack, if anyone has any information on that we are keen to speak to them.”

The police are also looking to find on woman who was caught on CCTV in the pub on the night of the murder who may be able to help them with their inquiries.
