POLICE investigating the burglary of an elderly woman's home have charged a man in connection with the offence.

The victim in her 80s was approached by a man at her home address in the Fingerpost area and asked if she wanted any work to be carried out.

The man was asked to do some work in her garden and at some point, cash, her pension book and cash card was stolen.

The incident happened on Tuesday, June 5.

Following enquiries, 27-year-old Adam Batty from Graham Street, Fingerpost was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has been charged with burglary and fraud by false representation.

Batty was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court yesterday (Tuesday, June 19) and has been conditionally bailed to next appear on Tuesday, July 17 at Liverpool Crown Court.
