POLICE have released footage after the pursuit of a suspected stolen car in Bold Heath in the early hours.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit were involved in the chase of the vehicle, a Seat Leon Cupra, shortly before 3am this morning.
A police spokesman said: "Shortly before 2am, officers saw the red Seat Leon Cupra in Gorsey Lane.
"Following a brief vehicle pursuit, the car came to a stop in Rainhill Stoops, near Watkinson Way and two people are believed to have made off from the vehicle on foot into some nearby wooded area.
"A search of the area proved negative and enquires are ongoing to locate the offenders.
"The car is believed to have been stolen from the Rainford area earlier in January.
"The occupants of the car made off on foot and left the car in reverse."
The Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Unfortunately the offenders made good their escape through a wooded area but not before leaving the vehicle in reverse.
"Luckily (there was) no damage to the police vehicle. Enquiries ongoing".
