FIRE crews spent around two hours at a house in Sutton Leach after a bedroom mattress caught fire.

The fire broke out in a property on Mill Lane at around 12.15pm on Wednesday (February 14).

Two fire engines attended the incident and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

One person, who suffered slight smoke inhalation, was assessed by paramedics at the scene but was not taken to hospital.

The fire, which involved a bedroom mattress, caused severe damage to a bedroom.

The rest of the house was also moderately damaged by smoke.

Firefighters remained at the incident for nearly two hours.
