DETECTIVES investigating the murder of James Meadows in Huyton have arrested a St Helens man on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The 30-year-old was arrested on Saturday night (January 13). He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

James Meadows, aged 17 and from Huyton, was killed by a gunshot wound to his head in October

Earlier this month police executed five warrants at addresses in Prescot, St Helens and Huyton.

They made four arrests on suspicion of assisting an offender and seized drugs.

A 46-year-old Prescot woman was released under investigation pending further enquiries, alongside a 28-year-old man from Roby, a 28-year-old woman from Huyton and 19-year-old man from Huyton.
