A TEENAGER accused of killing former Vulcan FC footballer Richard 'Dickie' Percival has denied murdering the pensioner.

The defendant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, Tuesday.

During the hearing, he pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and one count of theft.

The prosecution allege the teenager murdered the 71-year-old at his home in Newton-le-Willows on August 17.

The trial is expected to take place in February.

A pre-trial hearing has been set for December.
