A 13-YEAR-OLD girl darts player has made her way through to the finals of a prestigious youth tournament.
Eleanor Cairns, from West Park, will compete in the Youth Winmau Masters Finals in Bridlington this September after battling through the qualifiers in Staffordshire.
Eleanor, who is now also captain of Lancashire Youth, won her first match 2-0, then went on to win her next match 3-1 and then prevailed in the final 3-2 to win her place in Bridlington.
"She has really improved as a player and a person over the last two years, it's unbelievable," said Karl Holden, secretary of the St Helens Darts Academy, where Eleanor plays.
"They were all under 18s and Elenor has only just turned 13 years of age.
"She hit a 180 last week at the academy and she did a nine-dart leg in 301, including a 180."
