MEMBERS of the emergency services were given a warm ovation at Saints on Sunday during a half-time lap around the pitch.
Saints’ community development foundation invited emergency services to Sunday’s game against Catalans to say thank you for the jobs they do.
“The jobs these individuals do under the umbrella of the emergency services is nothing short of heroic and takes special people with massive drive and enthusiasm to achieve all that they achieve,” said Saints' community foundation manager Steve Leonard.
“With all the barriers that could so easily be used as reasons to fail, used as positive energy to succeed.
“We are trying to emulate this type of approach, albeit in nowhere near as tough an environment as our emergency services endure, to better our stature within our community.
“That’s why we wanted to say a massive thank you to all the members of the Merseyside Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Hospital staff and the North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust staff and all those who are there when we are most in need of someone to care.”
