PLANS to convert a former pub into a 14-bedroom multiple occupancy housing have been rejected.

A notice saying that the application regarding The Bowling Green Inn, on Robins Lane, Sutton, had been refused, was issued by St Helens Council this week.

It states: “The proposed development provides insufficient off-street parking provision, which in combination with a lack of suitable on-street parking provision and the orientation to a junction would result in highway safety concerns.”

The application proposed to convert the property into a 14-bedroom HMO, by adding an extension.

Plans also included two kitchens and two living areas.

Residents vocalised their concerns for the development stating that as well as the parking situation, the nearby schools was a worry if plans went ahead.

The report added: “The proposal would not improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of the are nor does it comply with the development plan.”
