TEN-year-old George Mathias completed a one-mile run around a Liverpool park with a celebrity personal trainer and members of the Hollyoaks cast.

George, from Eccleston, set up the 'Run with George' campaign to thank doctors and nurses at Alder Hey Hospital who saved the life of his six-year-old brother James, who ended up in a coma after becoming ill as a baby.

George ran one mile around Sefton Park supported by Amrit Maghera and Luke Jerdy, known for playing Neeta Kaur and Jesse Donovan in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, and personal trainer to the stars, Maziar Ajtar.

The mile-long stint, which commenced at the park's iconic Palm House, represented George's journey to complete one mile for every month that his brother has been alive.

Senior events manager at Sefton Park Palm House, Rosemary Sorrell, said: "I speak on behalf of the team at the Palm House when I say we can't begin express the pride and joy we feel to have backed such an amazing cause - George is a truly inspirational young boy.

"Having teamed up with the highly regarded personal trainer Maziar Ajtar, who has become known locally for his celebrity clientele, we are so grateful how he rallied the runners and got Hollyoaks actors and actresses on board. A massive well done goes to everyone who took part."

Last month, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher joined LFC fan George for a leg of his 75-mile journey and he had also received support from Saints captain Jon Wilkin, Olympic swimmer Fran Halsall and gymnast Beth Tweddle.
