SHOPPING centre bosses are believed to be in talks with retailers amid rumours regarding the future of the former BHS site.
Sources have suggested Poundland and a budget fashion chain could be housed in the Church Square Shopping Centre. Any such move would be expected to see the former Woolworths shop, currently occupied by Poundworld, become vacant.
Steve Brogan, manager at Church Square, would not be drawn on the links.
He said: "We are looking at a variety of options for the vacant BHS unit, to enhance the vitality and vibrancy of Church Square and the town.
“We will be pleased to make an announcement when we have firm proposals in place but do not comment on market rumours.”
The store has been vacant since it closed in July last year after administrators failed to find a buyer for BHS, resulting in 163 store closures across the UK.
