A JURY has been shown CCTV footage allegedly depicting the man accused of murdering Danny Fox dropping a knife out of a car window at a McDonald's drive-thru.

William Leighton Holt, 20, of Custley Hey in Stockbridge Village, is in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court charged with murder.

In his opening statement this morning, Gordon Cole, prosecuting, said footage would be shown of the weapon being dropped into bushes at the town centre restaurant.

The blade, described as a butterfly knife, had Danny's blood on it and forensics found it had Holt's DNA on the handle, Mr Cole said.

He added that after Danny was stabbed on North John Street, in the early hours of Friday, September 2, 2016, Holt got a taxi with two women to McDonalds, where the knife was thrown into bushes.

CCTV of this was shown to the jurors.

Mr Cole alleged that prior to Danny's death, Holt had threatend to punch a woman outside Bar 44.

It is alleged Danny's friend Andrew Parr then told Holt to leave the women alone, to which the defendant is said to have replied: "I'll f***ing slice you".

According to the prosecution, Mr Parr slapped Holt, who reached for a knife before his girlfriend calmed the situation down.

Holt then ran away and Danny and Mr Parr followed him for a distance before stopping. Shortly afterwards, Danny was wounded.

The jury is made up of seven women and five men.

There will be 20 witnesses, including police officers and a pathologist.

Danny, who was 29 and lived in Thatto Heath, died in the early hours of Friday, September 2, 2016 after suffering a single stab wound to the upper body in North John Street.

He had been a doorman at Dreem Bar in Westfield Street before going on to work as a carer for an autistic child.

Danny was nicknamed ‘blue eyes’ and ‘Foxy’ by friends and had appeared on the e4 television programme Tattoo Fixers.
