ST HELENS has been hit by high winds today as Storm Doris strikes.
The Met Office has issued an amber warning for the North West of England.
There have been reports of road closures due to trees falling over due to the strong winds.
Motorists are warned that the short stretch of Corporation Street fronting Atlas House is currently closed as remedial works to Atlas House roof get underway following damage caused by high winds.
Diversion routes are in place and are expected to last until 5pm tomorrow evening.
Earlier this morning, Warrington Road in Rainhill was closed due to a fallen tree, which has now been removed.
Victoria Road in Newton-Le-Willows is closed both ways with slow traffic due to a fallen tree between A572 Crow Lane East / Water Street and Wargrave Road.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has attended several incidents across the area this morning.
At 11.07am on Merton Bank Road, a tree has been blown onto live cables
At 11.09am a report was received from Ewart Road Haresfinch of a tree blown on to a live cable.
Meanwhile, on Portico Lane, Whiston, a tree was blown on to a roadway
And at 11.37am crews attended a roof lifting, on Bridge Road, Clock Face.
A St Helens Council spokesman said: "Grounds maintenance are assessing and clearing fallen trees, and calling in assistance from the council's highways team to close roads where necessary, ensuring safety for residents and road users.
"Building control is also on site at a property on Old Whint Road, Haydock assessing structural damage, and emergency services have closed the road and adjoining ones. Residents should avoid the area as much as possible."

Islands Brow: Tree resting on electricity cable islands brow rang through to stacey grounds
Linkway: Tree fallen on the linkway by McDonalds blocking part of the road
Liverpool Road - Haydock: Large oak tree uprooted and gone through windows of two houses
Longridge Avenue: Tree down and across the road in Longridge Avenue near the shops

Moss Lane: Tree Down on Moss Lane
Portico Lane: Tree across road - Fire Service and Council aware
Portico Lane: Tree fallen from a garden on Portico Lane into the road Police aware
Red Cat Lane: Tree fallen on Red Cat Lane, Crank - outside Ivy Cottage
Reeds Brow: Tree fallen in Reeds Brow on the bad bend after the kennels
St Georges Road: Large Branch Fallen from tree leaning on railings
Stevenson Road / Park Road: Tarmac roof on block of flats hanging off
Sturgess Street - Newton-le-Willows: Tree Fallen down
