A MAN has been talked down from the top of a multi-storey car park - after fears for his safety led to a wide police cordon being erected in the town centre.
The man stood on top of on the car park, above B&M, in St Helens town centre.
Areas were sealed off on Hall Street and Church Street, leading to disruption for pedestrians and motorists.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at about 11.50am about the safety of man.
"Neighbouring roads were closed off in the area and we sent an officer to talk to him. He came down from his own volition at about 12.50pm.
"He has been assessed by police for his own safety and is now being cared for at Whiston hospital."
