A CHRISTMAS Fair is making its way back into the heart of the village this Saturday, with Santa’s Grotto and much more in store.

The fourth annual event in Rainford will run from 11am to 3pm and will feature stalls selling food and drinks, including seasonal hog roast and mulled wine, homemade cakes and fundraising stalls.

All the money raised will be going back into businesses within the community and the event will feature a Silcock's fairground ride, donkey rides and will be attended by the mayor and mayoress of St Helens, Cllrs Dave and Jeanette Banks.

Pupils from Rainford Technology College and church choirs will also be singing for visitors.

Diane Nichols, chairman of the Christmas fair committee, said: “The fair is now an annual village event, by the community for the community.

“The Rainford Christmas Fair Committee, is a group of seven local residents who began planning the 2016 Fair early this year.

“Proceeds from the event will be paid to local organisations who apply, after retaining a small proportion to fund the next year’s event so the more money raised, the more local organisations will benefit.

“After this year's event the committee will invite local organisations and causes to apply for funds, so if you are involved in a Rainford organisation which you feel would benefit, look out for application details in early 2017, via the Facebook page.”
