ST HELENS town hall will be converted into a Christmas wonderland on Saturday (December 3) as festive fashion and food stalls take over for the day.

Mulled wine will be flowing and there will be vintage Christmas cards and decorations on sale, Christmas craft sessions for children - as well as a grotto held in the town hall chambers on the first floor.

A seven-foot real Christmas tree from Rainfords Christmas Tree Land will take pride of place in the hall.

Organiser Ann-Marie Owens, of Phoenix Apparel who brought together the collective at Corporation buildings, said: “This is the first vintage Christmas fair at the town hall - last year we held one at the Masonic Hall which was great but it was so crowded, we needed a bigger venue.

“Our vintage tea room will be back but this time with a Christmas theme!

“There will be vegan cakes, mince pies, hot chocolate, mulled wine, teas and coffee.

“We’ll have our rooms of vintage fashion, accessories and homeware downstairs this time to make room for the grotto upstairs.

“Children can do Christmassy crafts, making decorations, while their parents have a mooch and pick up some unique gifts.”

One food stall holder will be former boxer from Liverpool, Joe Ainscough, with his pop-up restaurant ‘Plvnt’, which sells organic vegan versions of the likes of winter warmers beef Wellington and steak and ale pie.

There will be vegan Chinese dishes courtesy of Go-Go Dumplings and vegan street food and mini Christmas puddings by Satsuma.

Stuffed by Shmoo will bring their vegan chocolate truffles, cheesecakes and cheeses to the fair.

Ann-Marie added: “As well as vintage clothes and accessories, there will be haberdashery and upcycling.

“I’m really excited about this event; it will round off a fabulous year of fairs, and we’re planning to carry on into next year...

“There’s a vegan fair set for March 2017, so that’s the next project.”

The Christmas Fair takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, December 3, costing £1 for adults and free for children.

The grotto costs £5 and 45-minute craft sessions are £5.50.
