BUSINESSES and shops helped to transform a village pink in a bid to help breast cancer prevention.

“Paint Rainford Pink” took place last week from Monday (October 17) until this Sunday 23, in a community effort to join the fight against the illness.

A huge community effort saw many venues around the village don the colour to help raise money for a breast cancer unit.

Florist Wendy Downey was a driving force in helping make Rainford a sea of pink for the event to raise funds for the Prevent Breast Cancer charity based at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester.

“All the shops in the village are taking part,” said Wendy Downey of the Church Road-based florists.

“It is the first time anything like this has been tried in Rainford.

"Everyone in the village has taken part. The businesses are involved right the way through the village."

If anybody wants any information or wants to get involved then they can get in touch at Wendy’s Flowers.”
