WAR hero Andy Reid has made a good luck video to the daring team from the Steve Prescott Foundation as they set off for Mount Everest.

Steve's widow Linzi and his 15-year-old son Taylor will be among the team of 40 climbers travelling to Nepal's Everest base camp - and beyond.

Triple-amputee Andy, who was injured in Afghanistan exactly seven years ago, posted the good luck message ahead of their mammoth challenge, echoing Steve's mantra "what the mind believes the body achieves".

Andy, formerly of the Third Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, lost three limbs in 2009 after standing on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 10 days before the end of his tour in Afghanistan.

In the video, Andy says: "I'd just like to wish everyone that is taking part in the Spectrum Everest Challenge massive massive good luck for starting tomorrow, especially to Linzi.

"As Steve said 'what the mind believes, the body achieves'.

"That has been my motto since I've been injured since I met Steve. He certainly got me to where I am today, so best of luck guys."

Others going on the trip include Emmerdale actor Mike Parr and former rugby leagye players Lee Briers, Barrie McDermott, Alan Hunte, Chico Jackson, Mike Wainwright, Ade Gardner, Iestyn Harris and Neil Harmon.

The party returns to the UK on October 28.
