A NURSERY is celebrating after being rated as outstanding in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Portico Poppets Day Nursery in Thatto Heath had made achieving the top grade its mission since its previous inspection six years earlier.

The report stated that at the nursery: “All children, including those in receipt of funding, thrive in this stimulating and wholly inclusive environment.

"Children are highly motivated and develop extremely positive attitudes to their learning. They acquire a wide range of skills that prepares them extremely well for school.”

Delighted nursery manager Vicki Cardwell said: "We are constantly striving for the best for all of the children who access the nursery. The practitioners within the nursery are committed to progressing further and keeping up to date with all the changes that occur around early years.

"This, along with regular training keeps our practice fresh and our teaching extremely effective.

"I, as manager, am extremely proud of the team, early years is forever changing. We know how important the first five years of a child’s life are and want to get those foundations firmly embedded.”

The nursery is now on a mission to raise funds for a communal defibrillator to be fixed outside the nursery building and be accessible to everyone in the community at any time.

The unit is expected to cost around £,1500.
