EARLESTOWN'S new Wetherspoons pub has opened its doors after being launched by the mayor.
The Nine Arches, a name chosen by Star readers, has undergone a £2.28million investment. The pub chain transformed a former pet shop and chapel on Legh Street.
Earlestown councillor Dave Banks, the mayor of St Helens, attended the official launch last Tuesday of what is the third Wetherspoons premises in the borough.
The pub is managed by Philippa Hampson and has two floors featuring one bar and a beer garden to the rear of the premises, where smoking will be permitted in a designated area.
The inside has historical photos and details of local history with artwork and images of local scenes displayed and the rustic interior design is inspired by the area's agricultural history.
Large exposed trusses, with cast iron chandeliers are another feature.
Opening times are from 8am until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and 8am until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. Food will be served until 11pm every day
The pub specialises in real ales, craft and world beers, serving a wide range of draught ales, bottled beers, including from local and regional brewers.
Children, accompanied by an adult, are welcome in the pub up until 9pm.
