IRISH four-piece The Corrs will perform in the open-air the first post-races concert of the summer season at Haydock Park this Saturday (June 18).

The band, whose heyday was in the 90s with hits including 'Runaway' and 'Breathless', reformed last year after a 10-year break to spend time with their families and pursue solo careers.

The Corrs have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and their latest album 'White Light', released last year, went straight into the UK charts at number 11.

Sharon Corr said the band is looking forward to entertaining racegoers at Haydock and said they enjoy playing at racecourse gigs because of the great crowds.

The singer-songwriter explained: "They are already having a wonderful time by the time you get there and they love a good gig."

She added fans at Haydock Park can expect to hear "all our hits and songs from White Light too".

"We'll also break it down to a small acoustic section," she said, "which makes it very organic and will be a special moment."

The event - An Evening At The Races, presented by The Jockey Club Live - kicks off with a six-race card, giving fans the chance to enjoy the drama and spectacle of the racing.

Talking about the new album, Sharon Corr said: "We were aware that we had been missed and we poured our hearts and souls into making this new record - but as always there are no guarantees, you just have to do your best work. We were thrilled with the reaction!"

She said they were looking forward to welcoming fans old and new at Haydock: "We seem to have held on to our fans and made some new ones.

"The crowd reaction to the latest tour has been amazing! I think as a band we've matured a lot and I think the crowd can really feel how much we love what we are doing and that's infectious. There truly is nothing like making music and performing it to an enthusiastic crowd."

Jason Fildes, Haydock Park General Manager, said: "Last year was our most successful year of music at Haydock Park which included a sell-out performance by Kylie - I'm sure this year will be even better, starting with The Corrs."

Later this summer, songstresses Jess Glynne and Lisa Stansfield will perform at the racecourse.

Tickets are on sale via thejockeyclublive.co.uk, costing from £30 for adults and from £15 for under-18s.
