WINNERS of the St Helens Star’s inaugural Education Awards will be crowned next week after judges scrutinised more than 130 nominations.

The awards, sponsored by Carmel College, seek to salute the best pupils, staff, teachers and support staff from across the borough.

The ceremony will take place at the Word of Glass on Thursday, June 16.

Star editor Andrew Kilmurray said: “These awards are all about raising aspirations and encouraging high achievement. We want to give the best of St Helens schools the chance to shine in the spotlight.
