A READER has posted this footage online of the shocking moment a car uses the filter lane to overtake traffic stopped at a red light.

Kevin Anderson, who posted the clip on Youtube, says the silver BMW also narrowly misses a pedestrian during the dangerous manoeuvre.

He added: "I was returning home from work and as I approached the junction at Carr Mill Dam I noticed the silver BMW weaving in and out of traffic in my rear view mirror.

"It then undertook the car immediately behind me swerving into the filter lane for the right turn into Carr Mill Road.

"The car then swerved back onto the main carriageway of the East Lancs road narrowly missing a pedestrian out of shot on the video.

"The car was being driven shockingly and how it avoided an accident at this busy junction was a miracle."

The incident has been reported to Merseyside Police.

Mr Anderson added: "The number plate is clearly visible and I would like to think the police will take action to bring the driver to task as it’s only a matter of time before they seriously injure someone driving in this manner."
