WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS SOME STRONG LANGUAGE
WHEN Dawn Slater spotted that February 29 was a time when women traditionally pop the question she planned a romantic proposal to fiancé Paul Martin.
But as this video shows things didn’t quite go to plan.
The 35-year-old factory supervisor from Parr, who has been with Paul for just over 12 months, explained: “He plays rugby league and union so the first thing I thought was to get the rugby lads involved. But then I worried what he would say if everybody was there. “Then it was the end of the rugby union season and the start of league so I didn’t know which game he would be at.
“We went to Scarborough and I was going to do it there. They had the big four poster bed but it said in the brochure that you can’t have candles in the room.
“I thought when am I going to do it because everything was in a mix. So I just decided to do it.”
The video shows a nervous Dawn pacing up and down in the bedroom as she waits for Paul, 34, to make his entrance. She added: “He was completely surprised and didn’t have a clue. He didn’t realise women can pop the question on February 29.”
Dawn said that they are currently saving up to make their big day extra special.
