WITH tonight marking the second World Harry Potter Day, Central Library will transport visitors to the universe of the boy wizard to celebrate the occasion.
Following last year's inaugural event, there will be plenty for the young ones to immerse themselves in with both wizards and Muggles invited.
Here are five things to enjoy tonight:
- Dress up in the robes of your favourite character to make the library a sea of witches and wizards
- Experience the first day as a Hogwarts student, entering the library through the famous platform 9 ¾ and then being placed in a House by the Sorting Hat. Will it be Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin for you?
- Enjoy more magical fun with an evening of wizard-themed crafts, games, activities and readings inspired by the famous books
- Will you be brave enough to enter the Magical Menagerie? Supplied by Dylan’s Reptiles, there will be creepy, slimy and slippery animals on offer to see.
- No wizard can go to Hogwarts with out a wand so head over to Mr Ollivander’s and make your own wand before creating your own spells and spell books in Snape’s potion room
Ahead of the event, Susan Williamson, head of libraries, said: “The magic of Harry Potter continues to delight children, young people and adults alike.
"I am so pleased that we will be hosting another fantastic event to celebrate Harry Potter Book night here in St Helens.
“All you Muggles, aspiring Hogwarts students, secret witches and wizards - come along to Central Library for what promises to be a fabulous evening.”
The magic will get underway at 4.30pm and finish at 6:30pm. Just knock on the door and say ‘Alohomora’ to come in.
