A HOUSE in Prescot has been severely damaged by a blaze believed by police to be a suspect arson attack.

At around 3pm on Friday, 29 January, the fire was reported at 63 Molyneux Drive, in Prescot, which resulted in considerable damage to the property.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and the police are working closely with a fire investigator to establish the cause with forensic enquiries ongoing.

The home is currently unoccupied.

Prescot neighbourhood inspector Graeme Webster said: "We are keen to speak anyone who saw people acting suspiciously near to this location around 3pm, especially anyone seen inside or close to the house.

"The last tenant recently moved out so, thankfully, there was nobody in the house at the time of this offence, but this could so easily have had tragic consequences for any occupants, and for nearby properties."
