A MAN of Steel ale brewed in honour of the late Steve Prescott will be among the highlights for drinkers on the second day of the St Helens Beer Festival today.
It is taking place in St Helens Town Hall's assembly room, which will have a seated area and live music acts as well as 50 beers and ciders on offer.
The 'Man of Steel' beer has been developed by local brewer George Wright.
Paul Griffiths, of Zoo Bar, is organising the festival in partnership with the Steve Prescott Foundation.
He believes the town hall is the ideal location for a beer festival, being centrally located and known by residents.
The festival will include 40 beers and 10 ciders, including a beer from the Isle of Man and a mango cider. Bottled beers, prosecco and hot food will also be available
Paul said: "Usually at festivals the beers are taken from barrels using taps - but this is going to have the barrels under the bar with proper hand pumps."
The festival opens between 6 noon to 11pm on Saturday, with tickets – including entry, a free glass and programme – available on the door for £5.
