KIERA Weathers may have attracted a number of admirers with her performances on the X Factor but she won over a new army of young fans following a visit to a school.

The 18-year-old from Clock Face popped in at Sutton Oak Primary where she sang in front of star struck pupils and staff.

She performed two songs and chatted with the youngsters about being on the show.

Amanda Bradshaw pastoral manager at the school explained: "It was amazing. There was a real buzz around the school. The children couldn't believe that she came to their school. And that showed with Kiera as well because she didn't want to leave. She said she felt so welcome and wanted to stay for a school dinner.

"I could hear the children as they walked in say 'is she actually here'.

"What impressed me was the way she spoke to the children and got them singing. The children had the utmost respect for her. They also kept giving her hugs and she loved it. She didn't turn anyone away. At no point did she say that's enough. She was very welcoming."

Kiera sang two songs, 'Let it Go, from the film Frozen and 'Valerie'.

Mrs Bradshaw said: "The theme of the morning was does Kiera think Sutton Oak has the X Factor? And they sang 'You're an Inspiration'. She was a bit emotional and seemed overwhelmed. There were around 300 children in the hall and you could have heard a pin drop."
