POLICE are hunting a burglar who broke into Thatto Heath Crusaders amateur rugby league club last night.
A large amount of cash has been stolen from tills and fruit machines at the club's Close Street base where the break-in took place overnight.
A police spokesperson said: "Merseyside Police can confirm officers received a report of a burglary at a rugby club in Close Street, Thatto Heath, St Helens.
"Officers were called at around 7.20am this morning (Tuesday, September 1) to reports someone had broken into the club overnight. A large quantity of cash was stolen from tills and fruit machines.
"Crime scene investigators have attended the premises and CCTV enquiries are on-going.
"Detectives would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
