THE HEAD teacher of a primary school has been suspended pending an investigation.
Paul Lock, head at Willow Tree Primary School, in Sutton Leach was suspended by the governing body on Tuesday, June 23.
A letter was published by the chair of governors Jackie Lowe on Tuesday this week (June 30) to inform parents and school staff of the decision.
It stated that while the reasons behind the suspension were "confidential" that "parents need not have any safeguarding concerns relating to pupils".
It goes on to say the chair of governors will work with the council "to resolve the issue at hand as soon as is practicably possible".
A spokesman for St Helens Council said: "We can confirm that a member of staff at Willow Tree Primary School has been suspended pending an investigation."
The council did not give details of the investigation but confirmed that it did not relate to a criminal matter.
Deputy head Jane Sweeney will take over responsibility for the school until the end of term.
