PEOPLE are urged to vote for a local campaign which has been shortlisted in the final seven of a national lottery competition.

Get It Loud In Libraries has been an ongoing initiative which has seen local libraries bouncing to live music gigs. Most recently, young Stockport group The Blossoms performed at Central Library as part of the initiative.

And the scheme has beaten off stiff competition from 620 organisations to reach the public voting stage in this year’s National Lottery Awards – the annual search for the country's favourite lottery-funded projects.

Get It Loud In Libraries will be up against six other organisations to be crowned the winner of the Arts category, Winners will receive a £2,000 cash boost, an iconic National Lottery Awards trophy and will get to attend a star-studded Awards ceremony, broadcast on BBC One in September.

Get It Loud also gives young people in the community an opportunity to develop their skills by producing films and studying rock journalism, broadcasting, photography and events management.

Stewart Parsons, of Get It Loud In Libraries, said: “We're delighted to have reached the finals of The National Lottery Awards.

"Lottery money has really helped us to showcase the best new music talent, bring new audiences into libraries, and offer young people opportunities to learn new skills and build career pathways.

"It’s easy to vote, so we're hoping people support us, as it would be a fantastic reward for everyone involved in the project to receive national recognition for their hard work.”
